Quick Start Tutorial

By way of an example we're going to walk you through the steps involved in Tagging a music file. You'll be amazed how quick and easy this is!

In this example were going to work with an MP3 of a ABBA track, "Dancing Queen".

Run "Music Tag Tool" and load the MP3 file into it. You can do this by clicking the "Open File" button in the tool bar or by dragging and dropping the music file onto the Tag Tool window.

Once Tag Tool has opened our MP3 file, we can see what data it currently contains...

As you can see, it doesn't contain much. Let's fix that with Music Tag Tool. Lets fix the obvious problem first, Fix the Artist and Title entries as shown below...

That's all the typing were going to do!
We are going to use Music Tag Tool to download the rest of the information we need.

Click the "Download Tags" button on the tool bar - Tag Tool will start looking for all the information, Album Art and Lyrics for ABBA's "Dancing Queen".

Being one of their big hits, Tag Tool has found a few Albums by ABBA containing the track "Dancing Queen" and so asks us which of these Albums we want to import data from.

Use the "Next" and "Previous" buttons to browse through the albums Tag Tool has found. Then when you see the one you want, click "Select". Tag Tool will now download the information about Dancing Queen from that album and populate the missing music Tags, Album art and Lyrics.

Notice that the dancing Queen entry in the File List has been highlighted with a red dot. This indicates that changes have been made to that file that have not yet been saved to the MP3 file on the disk.
File highlighted as modified

Save the changes to your original MP3 file by clicking "Save Changes" in the toolbar.

Your MP3 file will now have all the updated Music Tags, Album Art and Lyrics within it. In Windows Explorer for vista - the Album Art should even be visible...

You can also manually edit the music data contained within the music file or edit multiple files at once. Read the rest of these help pages to find out how.
